Digital X-rays
Modesto Endodontics has been using digital x-rays since 1998. They provide sharp, clear images on a computer screen in real time. Digital x-rays reduce the amount of radiation needed as compared to film x-rays. The improved diagnostic capability of digital x-rays and the ability to view the x-rays on a computer screen allows for the delivery of more precise treatment. Digital x-rays save time and increase patient care. It’s also a very green technology. By eliminating film, developer, and chemical waste it is better for you and the environment!
CBCT 3D Imaging
3D imaging provides better quality and more detailed images than traditional x-rays. This new technology is also less invasive and emits less radiation than traditional x-ray machines.
Cone Beam technology provides a digital tomographic 3D view of the patient’s area of concern. A traditional x-ray is only two-dimensional. With Cone Beam systems, the doctor is able to get a full 360 degree view of the tooth and all surrounding areas. The 3D Cone Beam scanner provides nearly limitless views of the teeth while using less radiation than traditional medical CT technology. This new technology is fast, simple and painless, providing many wonderful benefits that were unavailable only a few years ago.
Most clinicians agree that it is advantageous and in some instances essential to take a CBCT scan before any endodontic surgery. Precise imaging becomes especially important in surgical cases that might involve vulnerable structures, including sinus cavities, nerve channels or blood vessels.
CBCT greatly reduces the error normally found interpreting standard 2-D images, leading to higher accuracy in the diagnosis. In addition to assisting the diagnosis, CBCT images can also be used as a guide to plan and carry out complex root canal treatment and surgery.
Microscopes
The use of specialized operating microscopes means that the doctor is able to get a detailed look at the work they are doing during all phases of your endodontic treatment. The additional magnification and illumination allow them to work with great precision and see small details such as calcified canals and fractures. The Endodontist is able to more accurately diagnose and treat the patient using a dental surgical microscope to improve the potential outcome of the treatment.
Electronic Apex Locator
This device is used to obtain the proper length of the root canal to effectively remove bacteria and contaminates. Accurate measurements are essential for cleaning out the root canal and preventing potential future complications.
Sonics and Ultrasonics
Ultrasonics are essential in retreatment cases, post removal, and in performing precision microsurgery. Sonics are designed to vigorously energize intracanal irrigants. They are also a significant advancement in disinfection and improves debridement and the disruption of the smear layer and biofilm, which results in more successful outcomes.
